Abstract
639,318. Hot-water supply systems. MILNER, J. B. Aug. 5, 1948, Nos. 20644 and 22611. [Class 64(i)] A hot-water storage tank e is provided with a mixing chamber a into which the boiler supply and return pipes b open, the top of the mixing chamber being connected to a rising pipe c which opens near the top of the tank, and the bottom of the mixing chamber having an open base or an opening through which it is connected e.g. by a pipe, to the lower part of the tank. Part of the hot water from the flow pipe b rises through the pipe c, and part of it, mixed with colder water from the bottom of the tank, returns to the boiler. The pipe c is insulated, e.g. by a coaxial pipe d which may be sealed to the pipe c at both ends or the upper end only. According to the first Provisional Specification, one or more series of holes for the inlet and outlet of water may be provided in the wall of the mixing chamber.
