Abstract

652,142. Mixing appliances. HYAM, F. J. Nov. 3, 1948, No. 28501. [Class 86] Mixing apparatus for fluids comprises two containers which are coupled by piping to a pump so that fluid from both containers can be simultaneously drawn through the pump and returned to the containers in a continuous circulating system, said piping containing stop cocks so that either of the containers can be individually coupled to the pump whereby fluid in such container can be circulated through the pump and if necessary through any other apparatus. The containers 1, 2, are interconnected at the top and bottom by cross pipes 3 and 4 which are connected to the discharge and intake sides respectively of a pump 5 the connection between the pipe 3 and the discharge side of the pump passing through a cooling jacket 8. Cocks 7 are included in the circuit whereby fluid in either container may be independently circulated through the pump. One or both containers may be provided with a steam heater coil 9. Both containers are fitted with connections for the supply of water and a removable strainer is fitted inside the containers on a rib 10. The apparatus is described specifically for the treatment of starch but reference is made to the preparation of ice cream, and baby or invalid food.
