Abstract

Apparatus for use in a method of mixing liquid or semi-liquid animal foodstuffs comprises a container (1) having a rotatable agitator (7), a suction pipe (C) leading to a pump (8) and outlet pipeline (E), and a bypass pipe (D) from the outlet pipeline to the container including a valve (13); by adjustment of the latter the pressure in the outlet pipeline can be varied. The by-pass pipe (D) terminates in an elbow (31) to assist circulation in the container. The agitator (7) comprises a flat disc with radial ribs (4).
