Abstract
670,664. Hot-water boilers and supply systems. PARKINSON WATER HEATERS, Ltd., and HERMANN, R. July 17, 1950 [July 28, 1949], No. 19866/49. Class 64(i) A gas-fired storage water heater com- prises a small tank 10 which is directly heated by a thermostatically controlled gas burner 15, a larger tank 11 mounted above and spaced from the small tank, means, e.g. a pipe 18, for feeding cold water to the bottom of the small tank, a hot-water delivery pipe 24 connected, e.g. by pipes 22, 23, to the upper ends of both tanks, flow and return pipes 31, 32 connecting the tanks, and a valve 30 which simultaneously opens or closes the pipes 31, 32 and controls the connection 22 from the small tank to the delivery pipe so that either the water in the small tank only or the water in both tanks is heated. A baffle 33 is provided between the upper ends of the pipes 31, 32. The bottom of the tank 10 may be of cast iron and have depending fins or studs. Both tanks are insulated.
