Abstract
472,838. Heating water. REYROLLE & CO., Ltd., A., CRAWSHAW, I. J. S. A., and RITSON, T. March 31, 1936, No. 9515. [Class 64 (i)] A water-heating installation of the kind in which a small heater A is connected by inlet and outlet pipes B, F, to a hot water storage tank D connected by flow and return pipes D<1>, D<2> to radiators or the like, the return pipe D<2> being connected to the bottom of the tank and in which the inlet pipe B of the heater has a thermostatically-controlled mixing valve C supplied with cold water through a pipe B2 from the bottom of the tank and with hot water through a pipe E from the top of the tank or from the flow pipe F of the heater, is characterized by connecting the hot water pipe E to the tank at a level above that of the outlet pipe D<1>. The space in the tank between the levels of the pipes D<1>, F is sufficient to fill the heater A, which preferably has electrodes A<1>. The pipe F is closed at the end and perforated along its length within the tank, within which baffles may be placed to minimize turbulence. An auxiliary storage vessel may be arranged above the tank in circuit in the flow pipe F and is connected by the pipe E to valve C. An auxiliary heater, preferably of the immersion type, may be arranged in the tank D or in the auxiliary vessel.
