Abstract
529,662. Electric water-heaters. ZIP HEATERS, Ltd. June 5, 1939, No. 16484. Convention date, June 23, 1938. [Class 39 (iii)] The storage chamber 1, Fig. 1, of an electric water heater is connected to a smaller heating chamber 6 which is inclined to the horizontal and has a water inlet tube 9, perforated with holes or slits, extending longitudinally of and beneath a heating element 23 of the type described in Specification 514,231. The chamber 6 is lagged with heat-insulation 11 and contains a thermostatic control 24. Valves 5 and 8 control the flow of water to the chamber 6, and the valve 8 may have means preventing its complete closure. The pipe connection 4 is curved to avoid trapping of steam. In a modification, Fig. 6, the heating chamber 35 is mounted inside the storage tank 36, and circulation takes place through perforations 37 and a pipe 39. The top of the chamber 35 may be curved to facilitate flow through the outlet 39 ; in this case the chamber may be horizontal.
