Abstract
460,339. Heating water. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and PEARSON, E. J. B. Feb. 10, 1936, No. 4019. [Class 64 (i)] In a water heater supplied from a feed cistern, the tank 1 is filled first to a low level for the quick heating of a small quantity of water, i.e. to the bottom of a vent pipe 4 with its top end 6 above the level of a feed cistern 5, and on operation of a valve 11 in a second vent pipe 10 at the top of the tank, the latter is entirely filled. Water enters slowly through a throttle 9 in a feed pipe 8 at a speed less than that at which it is withdrawn through an outlet pipe 12 with a valve 16. The tank has a thermostat 3 and preferably - an electric heater 2, both below the top of the outlet pipe 12.
