Abstract
450,991. Supply for water-heaters. FERRAINTI, Ltd., and WATKISS, J. H., Hollinwood, Lancashire. April 10, 1935, No. 11094. [Class 64 (i)] In an electric waterheater in which entering cold water displaces hot water into an overflow discharge pipe f and having a water levelling chamber b in which the level is lowered by the ejector action of incoming water so as to prevent dripping of the water being heated on expansion into the outlet pipe, the water inlet pipe a is of an inverted U-shape with the levelling chamber b around only that limb a<1> of the U which carries the downward flow of water, the delivery orifice of the limb a<1> being near the lower open end of the chamber. The outlet of the limb a<1> is formed as a nozzle, and the lower end of the chamber b is formed with a throat c. The upper end of the chamber b is open above the water level, and the upper end of the inlet pipe has a vent aperture d to prevent siphoning out the water through the inlet. A removable plate e carries the pipes, the levelling chamber, the heating element and a thermostat.
