483,537. Heating water. HEATRAE, Ltd., SMITH, C. H., and CHASTNEY, F. E. Sept. 1, 1937, No. 23927. [Class 64 (i)] [Also in Group XI] In an electric water-heater, cold water from a cistern b, supplied by a float valve e passes through a pipe h to the bottom of the heater k over which it flows to the lower end of a tube x surrounding a heating-element q, the heated water rising up the tube and being discharged at the top, and a hot water discharge pipe i is provided leading from the reduced extension u of the heater. Pipes x and i may be heat insulated by air jackets with vents to allow free, expansion and contraction of the air therein and the pipes may be placed on the exterior of the casing. The float valve e may be adjusted to vary the water level.
