[Also in Groups II and XXIX] A mixing device for domestic water installations in which cold water from the mains is mixed with hot water from a tank has a chambered head part 14 into which opens a lateral inlet pipe 1 divided by a central partition 2 into two superposed D-shaped channels 3, 4 having connections to the hot and cold water supplies respectively and a spout part 10 comprising concentric tubes 11, 12 the outer 12 of which extends inside the head chamber to the top tnereot and the inner 11 of which extends only to a point level with the central partition 2, means being provided for maintaining the hot and cold water streams separate within the head chamber. The tube 12 has a conical spigot 15 rotatably held in a correspondingly tapered bore in the head 14 by a nut 28 and a bolt 25 passing through a flange 27. The tube 11 is brazed to an internal shoulder 18 in the spigot 15 so that streams of hot and cold water supplied through ports 7, 8 and the channels 3, 4 in the inlet pipe are maintained separate and flow concurrently to the outlet through the concentric tubes 11, 12. Delivery ports 16, 17 are formed in the spigot 15 above and below the flange 18. The rear end of the pipe 1 is screw-threaded over the ports 7, 8 and is closed by an integral disc 23. The disc part screws into a ridge or collar 24 on the rear wall of a casing 22. The collar 24 merges with the lower wall of the casing 22. Hot and cold water connections 5, 6 controlled by suitable valves (not shown) are maintained separate by the inlet pipe 1 which seals against a partition 29 slightly offset from the vertical at its upper face. The tube 11 preferably ends short of the mouth of the tube 12 as shown but it may extend to the mouth of the latter. The spout 10 may be replaced by a non-rotatable spout.
