A water tap comprises a body having an entry chamber 3 provided with an inlet 2 for connection to a water supply pipe 6, a first exit chamber 11 with an outlet 13 for connection with an outlet pipe 14 and a passage 4 between the entry and first chambers controlled by a valve 9, a second exit chamber 22 with a discharge outlet in the form of or adapted to be provided with a spout 24, and a second passage 5 between the entry and second exit chambers controlled by a valve 10, the inlet 2 and the outlet 13 being accessible for direct connection with a water supply pipe and an outlet pipe extending through the flat surface on which the tap is mounted. As shown in Fig. 1, in which the tap is arranged for use with a water heater 16, the pipe 6 is connected to the main water supply and, by opening the valve 9, water flows through the passage 4, chamber 11, port 12, and outlet pipe 14 into the water heater whereby the hot water is forced from the heater through a pipe 20 and nozzle 21. By opening the valve 10, cold water from the chamber 3 flows through the spout 24 via passage 5 and chamber 22. In the modification shown in Fig. 10, the body is formed so as to be mounted on a hollow pillar 52 secured, for instance, to a sink top 54.
