858,653. Mixing fluids in How. WADDINGTON, R. S., and DUVAL, B. Feb. 22, 1957 [Feb. 28, 19561, No. 6085/56. Class 86. [Also in Group XXVIII] An injector device for mixing liquids comprises a body part 1, Fig. 1, formed with a Venturi passageway having a convergent inlet 2, an elongated throat section 3 and a divergent outlet section 4, through which flows a primary liquid, the secondary liquid being induced through a passageway and port 7 communicating with the throat 3. The port 7 leads from a valve chamber 8 provided with a slide valve 11 (omitted from Fig. 1 but shown in Fig. 4) which controls the passage 32 of the secondary liquid and is provided with a part 12 which fits into the port 7 so that on closing the valve primary liquid may flow through the passageway without substantial contamination by the secondary liquid. The setting of the valve 11 is controlled by a rotatably adjustable cam 17 provided with locking means thus varying the flow of secondary liquid. The flow of the secondary liquid to the valve chamber 8 is controlled by a second valve opened by the flow of primary liquid. A lift valve 51 has a stem 49 joined to a diaphragm 53 clamped between two parts 48, 54. When the primary liquid is supplied to the passageway some of the liquid flows through conduits 59 and 57 to the underside of the diaphragm 53 thus causing the valve 51 to lift and allow the flow of secondary liquid from inlet 43 to pass the valve 51 and stem 49 to the chamber above the diaphragm from where it flows to the chamber 8 through passage 32, Fig. 4. The end 5 of the body part 1 may be constructed in various ways for attaching to a water tap and the supply of secondary liquid may be from a tank the arrangement being such that atmospheric pressure is obtained in the tank at a fixed distance from the bottom. In a modified form an additional port 7 may be provided, with a similar valve means for the secondary liquid or a third liquid. The throat secticn may contain a circular groove for the secondary liquid. A non-return valve may be provided in the primary passage to prevent backflow of the liquid if a blockage occurs.
