A needle valve 12, 13 admitting a first liquid under pressure in a pipe 3 to a second liquid at a lower pressure flowing in a pipe 1, is controlled by a pivoted flap 16 in the pipe 1 which is displaced by the flow of the second liquid. The flap 16 and valve mechanism may be carried by a saddle 7 clamped over an aperture 5 in the pipe 3, or as in Fig. 3, not shown, the apparatus may be contained within a T-junction pipe.
