Abstract

802,691. Injectors. GASKELL & CHAMBERS, Ltd. Oct. 9, 1956 [Oct. 26, 1955], No. 30591/55. Class 71. [Also in Group II] A device for mixing two liquids in predetermined proportions by Venturi action, for example in beverage dispensing apparatus, comprises a bodypart 1 with an inlet 2 and a side port 5, with respective non-return valves 8, 9, a tubular member 6 terminating in a tapered nozzle 6d, being coaxially supported within the bodypart 1 which has an outlet tube 4. The tubular member 6 which forms an extension of the inlet 2 has at the end remote from the inlet an annular skirt 6a with spaced holes 10 surrounding the nozzle 6d. The end of the nozzle 6d is spaced a short distance from the end of a coaxially mounted outlet tube 4. Liquid forced through the inlet 2 passes through the non- return valve 8 and flows as a jet from the nozzle into the outlet tube 4 causing the second liquid to be drawn in through the side port 5, passing through non-return valves 9, 9 into the annular space 7 and thence through the spaced holes 10 to mix with the first liquid and pass therewith through the outlet tube 4. The non-return valves may be apertured discs which co-operate with a closure member 8a made of resilient material, such as rubber.
