Abstract

844,950. Spray-producers. GRACE & CO., W. R. April 25, 1957, No. 36470/59. Divided out of 844,950. Class 69 (3). A mixing nozzle 10 has a cylindrical feed channel 12 and a mixing zone 13 separated by a vaned member 11 so that fluid flowing into the zone from the channel is whirled by the vanes 15. A cylindrical spin chamber 18 within the vaned member, and provided with an outlet orifice 19 in a removable plug 20, is fed tangentially with a second fluid via a restricted passageway 22 so that the two whirling fluid streams mix in the zone 13 before leaving the nozzle aperture 32. Formulae are given relating the total pressures of the fluids leaving the orifices 19 and 32 with the densities of the fluid streams, their flow rates, and various dimensions of the mixing nozzle.
