602,666. Mixing liquids in flow. BELL, R. J. Nov. 8, 1945, No. 29782. [Class 86] A transportable unit for disinfecting water mains comprises a reservoir 3 for the treating liquid which is drawn through a tube 20 controlled by a valve 21 into an injector device through which a stream of flushing water is passed and which comprises a tube 8 tapering to a nozzle 10, a mixing chamber 9, and a double conical outlet 11. The supply of flushing water is connected by a coupling 13 to an inlet pipe 12 and a control valve 7, and the outlet from the apparatus is connected by a coupling 14 to the main to be disinfected. In order to maintain constant the strength of the reagent solution in the reservoir 3, a supply of undiluted reagent contained in a tank 5 is drawn through a tube 26 into a second injector device 24 by a stream of the flushing water by-passed through a pipe 2 controlled by a valve 23. The mixture of water and disinfectant proceeds through the pipe 22 into the reservoir 3. To facilitate transportation the tank 3 is mounted on legs 1 or on skids.
