Abstract
643,763. Mixing fluids in flow. GASKELL & CHAMBERS. Ltd. Jan. 15, 1948, No. 1330. [Class 86] A device for mixing disinfectant, &c. with water issuing from a tap comprises a reservoir provided with a capillary tube 2 connected to the outlet passage of the tap by means of a valve 31 and an extension tube 8, so that, as water passes through the tap a liquid may be sucked out of the reservoir. The amount of liquid so passing is controlled by adjusting the valve 31 by a rotary sleeve 32 cailbrated to give the proportions of liquids being mixed. The bottom of the capillary tube 2 is provided with a non-return ballvalve 21, this ensuring that there is always disinfectant, &c. in the parts of the valve and capillary tube. A modification is described in which the liquid passing up the capillary tube 2 on its way to the top is first passed through a filter plug, the valve means being a simple screw with a conical seating. Gauze 19 is provided in the outlet to ensure mixing and to prevent splashing.
