Abstract
539,709. Treating liquids with gases. CLARAZ, M. March 9, 1940, No. 4456. Convention date, March 16, 1939. [Class 55 (ii)] [Also in Group III] An apparatus for bringing gases and liquids into contact and adapted for chemical reactions comprises a bulb 1 the lower part of which forms a bubbling chamber and is connected by a cock 3 with an emptying tube 2. A tube 6 leads into the bulb through a lateral extension 4 and has a connection 8 leading to a liquid reagent supply and a connection 9 leading to a gas 'supply, the extension 4 having a suction conduit 5. In use, the bulb 1 is put under suction from pipe 5 and liquid is admitted through connection 8 to the bulb, the gas to be treated is then supplied through pipe 9 and is discharged through holes 7 into the liquid 15 through which it bubbles, and is withdrawn through the suction conduit 5. The re-agent is drawn off periodically through tube 2 and replaced by a fresh supply.
