Abstract
875,237. Mixing liquids. GOYEN, A. H April 14, 1959, No. 12702/59. Class 86 [Also in Group XXIX] In a mixing valve comprising a body 10 having separate inlets 11a, 12a for hot and cold water respectively and a common outlet 13, and for each inlet a diaphragm valve 16 under the control of a solenoid-operated pilot valve 29 so that either hot or cold water or a mixture of both may be discharged, the common outlet is fitted with a short pipe 19 so that hot water issuing from the pipe mixes smoothly with cold water passing around the pipe. The solenoid-operated valve associated with the cold water inlet is fitted beneath the valve body 10 and urged upwardly by a spring 24 on to its seat when its solenoid is deenergized. To restrict the pressure of the cold water a restricting screw may extend an adjustable extent into a passage 21 downstream of the cold water valve or a cock may be filled in the cold water supply line.
