Abstract
1,046,535. Heating water. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. June 18,1964 [June 18, 1963], No. 25286/64. Heading F4A. In a water heater wherein hot water is discharged through an open outlet pipe 1 fitted with an anti-splash device 3 when the cold water inlet valve in the supply to the heater is opened, the hot water remaining in the outlet pipe when the valve is closed is rapidly drained off as air enters the pipe through a bore 5 in a handle 4 which is used to swivel the pipe to the required position. To prevent the possibility of scalding if the outflow of hot water is inadvertently restricted, when it may also discharge through the bore 5, the latter may be provided with a ball valve, Fig. 2 (not shown), or the flow may be reversed in the handle to discharge from the bottom thereof, Fig. 3 (not shown).
