Abstract

631,653. Sprayproducers. BROUSSARD, G. L. Dec. 30, 1947, Nos. 34580 and 34581. Convention dates, Dec. 3, 1945 and May 27, 1946. [Class 69 (iii)] A nozzle for fluid under pressure has means actuated by the fluid for interrupting periodically the fluid outlet flow to produce an intermittent jet. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, air entering a nozzle 1 at 2b passes through an orifice 6 into a chamber 3 when a valve 2 is held by the hand in the lowered position. An oval-shaped metal rotor 5 is forced by the air to rotate anti-clockwise within the chamber 3, thereby closing alternately the inlet orifice 6 and the outlet orifice 8 to produce an intermittent jet. A shallow groove 7 in the chamber wall facilitates rotor motion from its initial position. A nozzle for liquid, Fig. 3, has a circular rotor, and liquid passes into a chamber 3 via a valve 6a and a passage 6. Fig. 4 shows a liquid nozzle which can give an intermittent or continuous jet depending on the position of a three-way cock 11. A further embodiment, similar to Fig. 3, is described, wherein a tubular portion is formed on the chamber wall and contains a finger portion which may be inserted within the chamber 3 to stop the rotor and thereby effect a change-over to a continuous jet.
