Abstract
1413838 Spray producers MARCONA CORP 22 Dec 1972 [29 Dec 1971] 59447/72 Heading B2F A nozzle for issuing a high velocity jet of liquid comprises a cylindrical stem 42, a nozzle head 52 connected to the stem and having a curved conduit therethrough of progressively reducing cross-section, the conduit having a re-entrant front wall portion 84 which enables the whole nozzle head to be confined throughout its extent within a cylindrical extension of the stem, and means for connecting the stem to a source of liquid under pressure. The nozzle shown is for the purpose of cleaning and is disposed in a sump 14 mounted in a plate 10. The nozzle can be risen, lowered into the sump, or rotated by suitable means 43. Laminar flow through the nozzle is enhanced by means of parallel baffles 58, and baffles (99), Figure 5 (not shown), may also be provided immediately preceding the nozzle outlet orifice 54. An elastomeric sealing cap 56 is provided to seal the sump outlet when the nozzle is in its lowermost position.
