Abstract
1,271,702. Flat spray nozzle. DELAVAN MFG., CO. 9 Oct., 1969 [11 Oct., 1968], No. 49650/69. Heading B2F. [Also in Division F4] A nozzle which produces a flat spray pattern at high liquid flow rates and low air pressures is especially useful in jet engines and comprises a hollow body portion 11 having an elongated orifice 22 in the end portion thereof with means for supplying liquid to the orifice, a cap 12 fitting over said body end having an opening of larger dimensions than the orifice permitting liquid to pass therethrough, a pair of radial slots 24 (Fig. 4), defined by the cap and the body, at right angles to the orifice and of greater width than the length of the orifice, and conduit means 15, 17 supplying the slots with compressed air. Radial slots 24 cut at right angles to the orifice have inclined bottoms sloping towards the orifice at an acute angle from the axis of the nozzle. In a modification Fig. 1, the tip of the nozzle is disposed at an angle to the body.
