Abstract

1,097,498. Nozzles. SPRAYING SYSTEMS CO. Aug. 5, 1965 [Aug. 7, 1964], No. 33562/65. Heading B2F. A spray nozzle for producing a full cone spray comprises a passage 22 for the liquid to be sprayed, vanes 27V in the passage for imparting a swirling turbulence to the liquid, and a plurality of grooves 41 arranged around the outlet 25 of the passage so as to direct inwardly the outer portions of the swirling liquid and produce a full cone spray. The ribs or grooves may be inclined with respect to the nozzle axis, Fig. 3 (not shown), or may be formed in an outer cap or sleeve, Figs. 7-10 (not shown) which is adjustable with respect to the nozzle so as to alter the angle of the spray. The grooves may be formed integrally with the nozzle or the cap or may be formed in a separate sleeve as shown in Fig. 1.
