Abstract

1,113,969. Spray nozzles. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. 4 Nov., 1965 [13 Nov., 1964], No. 46745/65. Heading F4T. A liquid spray nozzle, particularly for burners, comprises a body 19 defining a cavity 20 containing a swirl member 25, and a circular discharge orifice 23 across which extends a rod 35 dividing the hollow spray into two equal hemi-conical portions. The rod 35 is recessed in the outer face of the body 19 and swirl member 25 is retained in position by a locking member 28, screw threaded into the body and provided with liquid passages 31, 33. A circular array of skewed slots 27 in the member 25 distributes the liquid in the conical formation. In Fig. 7, the spray nozzle is mounted on the end of a liquid passage 59 and structural members 50 and 63 define air outlets 68, the air being swirled by a plate 67. Intake apertures 70 in member 50 pass air to outlet apertures 71, the air serving to keep the outer surface of the structure free of combustion deposits.
