Abstract
986,026. Spray-producers. RAIN JET CORPORATION. Dec. 12, 1962 [Jan. 16, 1962], No. 46871/62. Heading B2F. A liquid discharging nozzle comprises a cylindrical body having an inside chamber and two end walls, one end wall having an inlet opening to the chamber eccentric of the longitudinal axis of the chamber, an outlet opening spaced from each of and between said end walls, the extent of the outlet opening circumferentially of the chamber being greater than its extent in the longitudinal axial direction of the chamber, the inside surface of the ends being spaced from the outlet opening by at least onefourth of the diameter of the chamber. The body may be a cylindrical tube 17, Figs. 1, 2, with inlet opening 36 and an outlet 27 extending circumferentially, e.g. from 90 degrees to 220 degrees depending on desired spray pattern. Lip surfaces 29, 30 may be inclined upwards as shown. The inlet opening 36, Fig. 4 (not shown), is smaller in area than the outlet, being about one-fifth thereof. In operation because of the nozzle configuration liquid issuing therefrom flutters up and down and is broken up into fine droplets. Instead of in a plane normal to the longitudinal of the chamber axis the outlet opening may be upwardly or downwardly inclined to such a plane.
