Abstract

1,137,315. Spray-producers. DIAMOND INTERNATIONAL CORP. 8 May, 1967 [9 May, 1966], No. 21296/67. Heading B2F. A spray head for a paint or insecticide dispenser having a reciprocating pump or a pressurized container comprises an integrally-constructed body 10 formed with a cylindrical blind socket 12 for receiving a liquid supply conduit 13, and including a recess 14 which communicates with the conduit 13 through passages 16 and oppositely directed outlet nozzles 16a, 16b, the base of the recess having a ridge defined by intersecting concave deflecting surfaces onto which the liquid from the outlet nozzles 16a, 16b impinges at an acute angle or tangentially. The concave surfaces are defined laterally by diverging walls (17), Fig. 2 (not shown) which extend from the ends of the nozzles 16a, 16b to the respective ends of the ridge. The surfaces may be of smooth configuration, causing the sheets of fluid formed thereon to impinge and form a fan-like discharge, or grooves (151), Fig. 4 (not shown), may be formed in the surfaces, the grooves of the two surfaces either being in register, Fig. 5 (not shown), or at least partially out of register, Figs. 4, 6 (not shown), to form spray patterns of varying widths. The surfaces may be adjustable relative to one another to vary the spray pattern. The surfaces may be partially smooth and partially grooved.
