Abstract
1486437 Nozzles SPRAYING SYSTEMS CO 22 Nov 1974 [23 Nov 1973] 50692/74 Heading B2F A spray nozzle 12, Fig. 4, suitable for use at low spraying pressures and for defining a spray pattern of elliptical form with a tapered distribution of the spray pattern at the edges, has a cylindrical passage 27 therein having a discharge end terminating at a dome-shaped wall (28) Fig. 3, (not shown), extending across the passage, an elliptical orifice 29 in said wall disposed symmetrically relative to the passage axis, and two spaced protuberances 34, 35 in the wall surrounding the passage entrance, which protuberances define a generally elliptical cross-sectional shape to the passage entrance, the remainder of the passage being of circular cross-section. A bore 26 opens onto passage 27, bore 26 being of greater cross-section than said passage to define a shoulder at the passage entrance. The bore 26 may be of stepped configuration. In a modification. the protuberances are formed in a disc 40, Fig. 7, and define the edges of a generally elliptical opening therein, said disc being inserted into the nozzle at the entrance to passage 27. The insert may be formed by moulding.
