Abstract
1368592 Spray producers BARRY-WEHMILLER CO 9 April 1973 [21 Aug 1972] 16840/73 Heading B2F A nozzle for the delivery of a conical spray comprises an outer hollow body 10, Fig. 5, having a fluid emission orifice 20 at one end, a plurality of raised lands 16, Fig. 2, on the interior surface of the body defining grooves 17 therebetween which are directed generally tangentially toward the orifice 20, a thimbleshaped body 21 disposed within the hollow body, the side wall of the thimble being spaced from the hollow body to form an annular reception chamber 26 for the fluid, and means 15 to retain the thimble in the hollow body. The closed end of the thimble which together with the end wall 18 of the hollow body defines a swirl chamber, is provided with radial vanes 25. A cover 30 is fitted over the open end of the thimble 21, and in an alternative embodiment, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), the cover (41) also provides the means to retain the thimble in position in the hollow body. In this latter embodiment the cover is held on the hollow body by means of interengaging slots and lugs (32). In a further alternative embodiment, Fig. 9 (not shown), the hollowbody orifice receives a replaceable nozzle insert (46). Internal circumferential beads or a set screw 28 of a fluid inlet 13 retain a fluid supply pipe 27 therein.
