Abstract

1388787 Electrostatic spray guns ATLAS COPCO AB 12 March 1973 [13 March 1972] 11824/73 Heading B2F In an electrostatic powder spray gun the electrode 21 is within the duct 14 and comprises an annular base 35 and a forwardly extending portion 35 which may be solid, as shown, or comprise a plurality of needles (Fig. 8 not shown), forming an annular edge 35a having radial clearance from the duct wall and being so set in from the mouth of the duct that it cannot be touched by hand. The duct is of insulating material and is connected to a source of air borne powder, air also being supplied through passage 28. A deflector 23 is mounted on a spindle 24 supported on spokes and vanes 18, 22 which impart a swirling motion, the spindle being surrounded by a tubular part 17 which forms an annular duct connected through the vanes 18 to the air passage 28. The electrode may be conical (Fig. 4 not shown) or cylindrical (Fig. 6 not shown).
