Abstract
1,151,079. Spray-producers. GEMA AG APPARATEBAU. 30 Nov., 1966 [6 Dec., 1965, 13 Dec., 1965], No. 53542/66. Heading B2F. An electrostatic spray gun suitable for coating an object 7 with powder comprises a barrel 4 having a discharge opening 5 from which the powder is discharged in a gas stream, and a charged deflector 6 adjustably mounted with respect to the barrel on a threaded spindle 9, said deflector being a body of revolution about the axis of the spindle. The tube 4, which may be of a synthetic plastics material, and the object 7 are charged as shown. The deflector may be ellipsoidal, plate-like, or hemispherical. Figs. 2-6 (not shown) depict alternative constructions for the deflector, the embodiment of Fig. 6 being adapted to coat short tubes (19). The deflector 6, Fig. 1, is stated to whirl the powder/gas mixture. The gun may be held stationary on a holder 3 or pivoted, in mass .production techniques, with respect to the articles on a conveyor.
