Abstract

1516421 Spray-producers E H GREEN 13 Feb 1976 [24 Sept 1975] 05776/76 Heading B2F A spray head for dispersing fluid from a pressurized container, particularly suitable for use with propellants such as carbon dioxide or nitrogen under high pressure, comprises a push button body member having a duct 27, Fig. 7 to be coupled in fluid flow communication with the container, a swirl chamber disposed in the body member, a passage 40', 44' connecting the duct and the chamber, the passage defining an opening 46, Figure 8, into the chamber, a discharge orifice 65 in fluid flow communication with the chamber, and a wall 50 disposed in the chamber, the wall being cooperatively operable with the chamber to effect nebulization of the fluid during discharge over a wide range of fluid pressures. The swirl chamber and the passage are defined by raised portions on the surface of a projection 35, in a cylindrical bore of the body member, and by an insert 19 having the orifice 65. The chamber may have another wall 51 and a second passage 41', 45' and opening 47, walls 50, 51 defining an inner swirl space 72 and an outer circulating channel 71. More than two walls may be present in the chamber each being positioned between a respective opening and the discharge orifice.
