Abstract
996,325. Mixing fluids in flow; dosing apparatus. P. G. TACCHI. April 22, 1963 [May 15, 1962], No. 18587/62. Heading B1C. Apparatus for dosing a flow of primary fluid with a metered quantity of secondary fluid (e.g. water with detergent) comprises a hollow body 10, 11, 12 divided into two chambers 39, 40 by a metal disc 30, 31 and an outer bellows 34. The primary flow passes from the inlet 20 to the outlet 23 by way of orifice 37 in the disc, and passage 25. A spray gun, hose or other device having a flow control valve is connected to the outlet. When the flow control valve is opened the differential pressure created by the orifice 37 causes the disc 30, 31 to move to the right compressing the inner bellows 49 and ejecting a charge of the secondary fluid from the chamber 50 formed therein through the non-return valve 43 into the primary flow. When the flow control valve is closed and the flow ceases, the spring 51 returns the disc 30, 31 to the left and secondary fluid is sucked into the chamber 50 through the passages 27, 28, 29, 46 and non- return valve 47. The orifice 37 is formed in a replaceable plug 36 and may be changed to alter the differential pressure and hence the distance moved by the disc 30, 31 and the total quantity of secondary fluid injected during one operation. The rate at which it is injected may be adjusted by changing the. plug carrying the non-return valve 43 for one having a bore of different size. A non-return valve 52 is provided to prevent back-siphonage in the event of a failure of mains pressure. The secondary fluid may be a gas; both fluids may be the same.
