Abstract
1,263,700. Dosing apparatus. BELL'S ASBESTOS & ENG. Ltd. 17 Nov., 1969 [12 Oct., 1968], No. 48470/68. Heading B1C. [Also in Division F2] A hot and cold fluid mixing valve has spring- loaded ball valves 17, 20 disposed in the respective inlets 16, 19 and actuated by diametrically opposed surfaces (57), (58) on a cam 33 which is rotatable about but captive on a tube 31 fixed via a frusto-conical member 26 to a spring-loaded diaphragm 24. Cold fluid pressure is communicated below the diaphragm by a passage 22 while the pressure of the mixing chamber 32 acts on the top of the diaphragm so that if a valve on a spray nozzle, for example, is opened downstream of the outlet 37 the pressure drop in the mixing chamber causes the diaphragm and cam 33 to rise and open the valves 17, 20. A secondary liquid connected at 72 may be injected into the outlet via apertures 43 by the pumping action of fixed piston 70 in a chamber formed in the member 26 and movable with the diaphragm acting in conjunction with check valves 73, 74. An alternative outlet for liquid is at 75 which is normally closed by a plug 76. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown) the top of the cam is formed as a piston (108) movable in a cylinder (104) formed in a temperature control knob (105) which piston ejects a secondary liquid into one of two alternative outlets (114), (115) from an inlet (111) when the cam and piston move to actuate the valves. The outlets (114), (115) each communicate with one of two alternative outlets for the mixed fluid.
