Abstract

1,214,953. Pipe couplings. GASKELL & CHAMBERS Ltd. 13 March, 1970 [24 March, 1969], No. 15269/69. Heading F2G. A closure for a barrel has a valve adapted when in the open position to allow gas to enter the barrel through one passage and thereby force fluid out through a second passage. The closure comprises a cup-shaped member 10, with a tube 13, closed at its upper end 14, passing through it. A valve member 15 slides in the member 10 and seals against it and the tube 13 by means of "O"-rings 17 and 18. The valve may be retained in the open position against the action of spring 25 by coaxial pipes 26, 27. Gas enters the barrel via passage 28, orifice 24, and axial groove 23. Fluid is forced from the barrel via tube 13, orifice 5, and pipe 26. In a modification gas enters the barrel via passage 28, an axial groove in the interior surface of the member 10, and an orifice in the lower portion of the member 10.
