Abstract
679,142. Spray-producers &c. URQUHART'S (1926) Ltd., LUNDBERG, K. H. F., and LUNDBERG, K. E. Feb. 1, 1950 [March 5, 1949], No. 2676/50. Class 69 (iii) [Also in Group XI] A device of the type including an obturator or valve 1, Fig. 3, axially movable with respect to a nozzle outlet orifice 3 at the end of a tubular casing 4, whereby fluid flow inwards over the valve face is controlled, also includes flow guide channels in the zone of flow inwards over the valve face, each channel having walls the effective flow guiding areas of which are adjustable during spraying, and being set at an angle to impart rotation to the fluid. The channels are formed by a series of vanes 7 and the control of fluid rotation is obtained by sliding the vanes along their grooves 6, Fig. 1. The valve head may be conical, frustro-conical, hemispherical, &c. and the end wall 4 may be conical. The valve and its stem may include a central passage for liquid which is atomised by a surrounding stream of whirling gas.
