Abstract

631,212. Liquid-fuel burners. SCHIELDROP, B. H. June 27, 1947, No. 17087. [Class 75(i) [Also in Group XXIX] A coaxial type burner supplied with fuel oil and an atomising medium under pressure is provided with independent controlling valves so that the supply of fuel oil and atomising medium may both be adjusted to optimum setting. Oil enters the chamber 2a and flows via ports 9c through the hollow control rod 9 into a conical head 9a and issues at 9d. Steam enters the chamber 3 and flows into the expansion chamber 4 via the annular passage 12. Control of the oil flow is effected by variation of the portion of the head 16 by a control wheel 14, whilst independent control of the steam is effected by variation of the position of the head 9a by the control wheel 10. The angle # at which the oil axis AA and steam axis BB meet is preferably 90 degrees or a little less as shown in Fig. 2.
