Abstract
628,812. Inductances. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. April 10, 1946, No. 11007. Convention date, Jan. 5, 1942. [Class 38 (ii)] In order to reduce the effect upon the tuning when the movable core of an inductance coil is displaced relative to a metal chassis or other conducting surface on which the coil may be mounted, a short-circuited winding made of a material of higher conductivity than the chassis or other conducting surface is provided in a position between the coil and the conducting surface. In an example a coil 2 is wound upon an insulating cylinder 1 which is secured on an iron chassis-plate 4 by supports 3, and a ring 6 of copper or other metal having a higher conductivity than the chassisplate is located between the latter and the coil winding. Tuning may be effected either by moving the core 5 downwardly in the direction of the arrow, or upwardly through the hole in the chassis-plate. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (4) comprises also a modification, Fig. 2 (Cancelled, not shown), wherein the short-circuited winding is constituted by a metal screening cylinder which surrounds the inductance coil and extends to the chassis-plate. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
