Abstract
628,998. Transformers. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Dec. 10, 1946, No. 36433. Convention date, Aug. 9, 1943. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XL (c)] In adjusting the coupling between the primary and secondary coils 2, 4, of a receiver aerial coupling a compensating closed coil 7, or a conductive or ferromagnetic body, is simultaneously moved axially to or from the secondary oppositely to the movement of the primary to maintain the total effective inductance of the secondary circuit constant. The coils may be slidably moved within the secondary on bobbins 2, 4 by a spindle 6 with their centres fixedly spaced apart the same length as the secondary. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the ferromagnetic body being a core of the primary coil or a layer of ferromagnetic material mixed with a binder and applied to the turns of the primary, so that it moves coincidently with the primary. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
