Abstract
410,217. Inductances; adjusting wireless apparatus. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and WYBORN, E. J., Priory Crescent, Southend-on-Sea. Nov. 23, 1932, No. 33068. [Class 37.] For tuning radio receivers, a coil has a core or body adapted by its presence to promote the inductance of the coil, and a core or body adapted by its presence to reduce the effective inductance and means for moving both cores or bodies so that the influence of both on the coil is varied simultaneously to give a wide range to the inductance valves. In Fig. 1 a magnetic core 1 and a non-magnetic, for example brass, core 3 are adapted to slide together into and out of the coil 2. A length of insulating material may separate the two parts of the core. In Fig. 2 a coil 2 and brass shield 3 may together be moved, over a magnetic body 1. Means for effecting this movement in respect of three coils 2 simultaneously are shown in Fig. 3. Cores 5 on a platform 6 are moved by means of the gearing associated with a knob 7.
