[Class 37] A variable inductance for tuning at radio frequencies comprises a coil or coils having a core containing magnetic material, the core having a number of limbs connected by a yoke, for example, a U-shape core, one of the limbs being inserted in a coil and cooperating with a closing piece adjustable relatively to the limbs, the closing piece in one extreme position closing the gap between the ends of the limbs and forming a substantially complete circuit of magnetic material. One or more coils f are carried by the closing piece e and the U-shape core part d is moved relatively to the part e. Figure - of - eight coils may be wound on the core members.
