Abstract

911,558. Inductors. WEYMOUTH RADIO MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. Aug. 22, 1961 [Sept. 8, 1960], No. 30942/60. Class 38 (2). An adjustable high-frequency coil comprises a ferrite core 6 attached to an insulating base 5 and carrying. a winding 8 surrounded by a cylindrical ferrite cup 9, the whole being enclosed by a detachable aluminium cover 10 into which is screwed an insulating axially adjustable plug 12 having a flat ferromagnetic disc 14 e.g. of Ferroxdur attached thereto. The ends of the winding 8, which rests on an annular ferrite disc 7, pass through notches (not shown) in the cup 9 to metal pins 16, one or both of which are connected to a capacitor 15. Adjustment of plug 12 varies the gap between members 14 and 9 thus varying the inductance of the coil. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), a ferrite cylinder surrounding the winding is mounted on a boss integral with the base on which is also mounted an insulating cylinder in which screws an insulating plug carrying a short ferrite rod.
