617,667. Hinges. LOURENS, B. Oct. 14, 1946. No. 30504. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 14, 1946]. [Class 65 (ii)] Sliding hinges; pivoting adjustments; sag preventing. A casement window which rests in a groove in, or behind a bar on the sill in the closed position, so that it has to be raised before it can be swung open, is mounted on hinges which are formed to prevent swinging until the necessary movement parallel to the hinge axis has been effected and to provide additional support to the casement during its swinging. In the form shown, the frame carries a hinge member 11 with a barrel having an interrupted flange 12 round its lip, and the sash has a member with a barrel carrying the hinge pin 14 and a downward projection 13 which drops behind the end of the flange 12 in the closed position and rides on the flange during swinging of the sash. The hinge pin has a collar 16 which rests on the lower barrel in the closed position.
