Barrel and cylindrical hinges; double and multiple hinges.-A door hinge by means of which the door may be opened by pivoting about a vertical axis and may also be opened by sliding it in a direction parallel to the wall comprises a link e pivotally connected at one end d to a flap c secured to the door b and also at f to a slide g movable along a guide h secured to the wall. When the link is engaged by a catch i, the door swings open and shuts about the pivot d. By moving the door so that the link is disengaged from the catch, the member g may be moved along the slide to cause the door to be opened as shown in Fig. 6. A clamping screw s is provided. In a modified construction, the slide is secured to the door. The member g may be provided with anti-friction devices, such as wheels or rollers.
