Abstract

278,252. Hartmann, E. A. March 17. 1927. Stays. - Doors, gates, and like members are held in an open position by a stay-bar 6 that is pivotally secured to the door at one end and has a ball or like member 7 at its other end, the bar sliding between a pair of spring- pressed discs 12, 15 as the door is opening, until the ball is drawn between the discs into engagement with a pair of opposed recesses. The disc 12 is secured to the ceiling- plate 11 by a pivot 13, and the discs are connected together by bolts with adjustable springs 17. To close the door it is first pushed to force the ball through the conical opening 19 between the discs, the stem of the bar 6 then sliding freely between the discs.
