Abstract
339,443. Parkes, S. R. Nov. 7, 1929. Multiple-bolt fastenings of the kind described in Specification 21425/12 have spring-actuated means for holding the bolts against movement from the shot or retracted positions, except by rotation of the operating spindle. As shown, the spindle comprises discs 5, 6, 7, 8 having eccentrically disposed pins 10, 11, 12 serving respectively to operate links 13, 14 and horizontal bolt 17. The links 13, 14 operate the vertical bolts 15, 16. A pair of diametrically positioned pins 9 co-operate with the fastening means, which comprises a pair of plates 31<a>, 31<b>, Fig. 9, slidable on one another and urged by springs 32<a>, 32<b> so that the transverse portions 33 normally bear against the upper and lower surfaces of the pins 9 and hold the spindle in either of two positions (with the pins in horizontal line) corresponding respectively with the shot and retracted positions of the bolts. Rotation of the spindle by the handle 3 causes the pins 9 to separate the portions 33 against the action of the springs and simultaneously operates the bolts. The horizontal bolt 17 may be omitted, and the handle 3 may be separable and adapted to fit on a non- circular extension of the spindle.
