Abstract

Wedges.-Windows, doors, and like hinged frame members are maintained in an open position by a strut-like wedge comprising a bar 1 to the end of which are secured pads or blocks 3, 4 pivotally connected so as to move in one plane only. As shown, eyelets 5 screwed into the pads engage with slots 2 in the bar, in which slots the eyelets are each secured by a hinge pin. The pads are preferably rectangular, as shown in Fig. 5; if they are hemispherical, as shown in Fig. 1, the pad 4 is out away at 8. The faces 9 of the pads may be faced with indiarubber, and one or more fine prongs may also be provided. In operation, the casement 10 is secured in an open position by a stay 11 and the bar 1 then wedged between the window and its frame, as shown in Fig. 5. The bar 1 may be of adjustable length, as by making it of telescoping parts.
