Abstract

611,001. Finishing fabrics. SIMPSON, P., and SIMPSON, A. P. April 18, 1946, No. 12061. [Class 42(i)] In a cloth-raising machine of the type having card rollers rotated about their own axes and carried by a cylinder which is revolved about its own axis, the card rollers are driven by a chain engaging a sprocket wheel on the axle of each card roller, the chain being driven by spring-loaded plungers upon a wheel coaxial with, but revolving in the opposite direction to, the cylinder. The card rollers c are journalled in parts b secured to a shaft a, the whole constituting the revolving cylinder. All the rollers c are provided with sprockets j which are engaged by a common chain i. A gear wheel f freely mounted on the axis a of the cylinder, is driven in the opposite direction to the latter by a pinion g. Arms h, projecting from the gear wheel f, carry spring-urged plungers which are connected to links of the chain i. The drives to the cylinder or gear-wheel f may incorporate a friction safety device.
