Abstract

281,923. Burgin, W. J. April 2, 1927. Reversing-gearing.- Automatic raversing- gearing for rotary washing-machines comprises a sprocket wheel 5 mounted freely on a shaft 6 and driven by a chain 4 from a sprocket wheel 3 fixed on the cylinder trunnion 2. A stud 7 secured to the wheel 5 is adapted to carry a weighted arm 8, mounted freely on the shaft 6, past the vertical position during the rotation of the cylinder, and, in the subsequent downward movement of the arm, a projection on the side thereof engages a recessed collar 9 fixed to the shaft 6. The consequent movement of the shaft 6 is communicated to the belt slide 10 through bevel gearing 13, whereby the direction of rotation of the cylinder is recessed.
