Abstract

1,166,456. Dough dividing machine. GEORGE TWEEDY & CO. Ltd. 20 Jan., 1967 [3 Dec., 1965], No. 51387/65. Heading B5A. A dough dividing apparatus comprises a pair of rotary members, rotatable about parallel axes, each member having a series of radially extending blades, and driving means for rotating the members stepwise from one position where two blades on different members meet, to the next corresponding position. As illustrated end on, the dividing members are mounted on shafts 15, 16 and comprise a cylindrical part 14 with four equally spaced blades 17 between which a curved metal sheet 14 is fixed. The axles are arranged so that the dividing members just meet or overlap, the axles being connected to equal sized intermeshed gear-wheels, causing the axles to rotate in opposite directions. The dividing members are mounted in a container 10 and dough supply means may be attached above them. The apparatus is actuated by a double-acting pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder with a latch on one end, this latch engaging one of four symmetrically placed projecting pins mounted on a plate attached to one of the gearwheels when the piston moves in one direction and riding back over the projecting pin on return, thereby rotating the dividing members through 90 degrees. A locking device secured by a cam keeps the dividing members in a fixed position, and is freed only when the piston is rotating the dividing members.
